Equipment
You don’t need your own bike to take part in MEC Bikefest – there will be lots of demo bikes available.
Even kids will find bikes to ride at the Kids’ Bike Station. However, for some of our clinics and all of our rides you will need to have your own bike and helmet to participate.
MEC Bikefest happens rain or shine so please dress for the weather. Be prepared for both warm temperatures and rain. Food and snacks will be available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring your own. And don’t forget your water bottle.
Participation
Participation in MEC Bikefest Burlington is free and open to all ages and skill levels. You must pre-register for clinics.
Please note that you must be 14 years old to participate in any adult clinic.
Participation in our group rides and tours is free, but to guarantee yourself a spot, you’ll need to pre-register for these events as well.
Clinics that will be offered include:
- Basic bike repair/maintenance
- Safe cycling in the city
- Tips and tricks for cycle touring
- Introduction to mountain biking
Be sure to check back for a schedule of events, including clinics, groups rides, and tours.
MEC Bike Swap
If you are looking for used bikes and cycling gear or have used bikes or gear you would like to sell, MEC Bike Swap is the place to go.
What can be sold? Used, demos, seconds, or sample gear and/or bikes. For retail vendors, no old or current stock is to be sold at MEC Bike Swap.
MEC provides the space and one table per booth. Booth holders bring all other necessary materials and provide their own staff for the duration of the event. Booth fees are just $10 for individuals or non-profits, and $50 (refundable) for retail/wholesale shops.
