About MEC Bikefest

MEC Bikefest North Shore is a three-day-long community celebration of all things bicycle related. Our goal is to bring together North Vancouver’s bicycle community and those new to bikes, to celebrate the wonders of cycling. Come join us and make it the best bicycle bash in North Vancouver!

This free event has something for everyone, so bring the whole family down to the sweetest cycling celebration of the summer.

Registration will open a few weeks before the event date.

Event description

Join us for MEC Bikefest North Shore – an exciting weekend of cycling fun, learning, and racing now that MEC Bikefest and the North Shore Bike Fest are one big event.

The event will feature bike maintenance courses, commuter safety skills, bicycle demos as well as information from cycling community groups.

We are collaborating with The Revenge of the Ripper racing series. Race the Chainless Downhill, the Euro Enduro and/ or the Super D. Check for more information about the races and registrations northshoreripper.com.

Workshops

We will be offering free workshops at Bikefest!

Are you interested in bamboo bike frames and how they work? Be sure to attend one of the Grassframes workshops. How about being able to tune your own bike? Sign up for the bike maintenance clinic with one of our MEC bike mechanics. Always wanted to ride a BMX? The BMX-ers of Cycling BC will teach you the basics and show you a great time! Stay flex for your rides and come to our yoga clinic on Sunday morning.

MEC Bike Swap

This year also at Bikefest, the ever-popular Bike Swap! It offers you great deals on used bikes and gear. Everything is welcome: armour, helmets, gloves, tires, you name it. Gear must be pre-loved and cycling related.

There are two ways of selling: you can rent half a table for $5 and if you have loads to sell, $10 for a whole table. Or let MEC sell it for you: selling an item costs $1 a tag, plus 15% of commission if the item gets sold. Only cash will be accepted.

The drop-off time is between 9am and 11am. The Swap itself will run from 11am till 4pm. People can pick up their unsold items or their cash after 4pm only the day itself at Bikefest. If you don’t pick up your gear we will go ahead and donate it to charity.

The Bike Swap will be held on Saturday June 9th at the Marketplace at Inter River Park. See you and your cool gear there! For more information please contact Maddie at 604.990.4417.

Equipment

Of course bikes are encouraged at MEC Bikefest North Shore! But if you want to demo a bike there will be lots to try out. Bring your own bike to one of the bike maintenance clinics if you have a specific question for the mechanic. Bike mechanics will be on-site all weekend to answer your questions and provide basic information.

MEC Bikefest North Shore happens rain or shine so please dress for the weather. Be prepared for both warm temperatures and rain. Food and snacks will be available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring your own. And don’t forget your water bottle!
