About MEC Bikefest
MEC Bikefest is a daylong community celebration of all things bicycle related. Our goal is to bring together Winnipeg’s bicycle community and those new to bikes, to celebrate the wonders of cycling. Come join us and make it the best bicycle bash in Winnipeg.
Registration
This free event has something for everyone, so bring the whole family down to the sweetest cycling celebration of the summer.
Registration will open a few weeks before the event date.
Location
This year’s event will be hosted at Forks Market Plaza.
Equipment
MEC Bikefest happens rain or shine so please dress for the weather. And don’t forget your water bottle.
Event description
The West End Cultural Centre Stage will feature a variety of free entertainment and education with everything from musical performances by local musicians Magnum K.I. and Haunter, to yoga classes with Moksha Yoga Winnipeg, and bicycle maintenance sessions.
Also Happening at Bikefest:
MEC Photo Booth Contest - This is your chance to win great prizes in five different categories such as “Best Pose” and “Best Dressed”, so bring your bike and get ready to strike a pose. Then check the results and download your photo from www.mecphotobooth.ca
Bike Polo – The Winnipeg Bike Polo Association will hold several scheduled matches between local teams and pick up games throughout the day. So you can watch the pros or join in a beginner friendly pick up match and develop your polo skills.
Valet Parking – A little bit of luxury for you and your bicycle at Bikefest with Bike to the Future’s Valet Bike Service. Drop off your bike with their volunteers and they’ll park it for you in style!
MEC Market Place – Need a bike light, a lock, or even, a new bike? The Market Place will have all that and more for sale at Bikefest. Looking for some slightly used merchandise? Then check out the MEC Bikeswap. More details at the bottom of the page.
Decorate Your Bike – Bring your bike down to Bikefest and jazz it up a little with the Art City Bike Decorating Station from 12 – 2pm. This event is especially fun for kids, but you might see a few grown ups with streamers as well.
Fix Your Own Bike – After taking the Bike Maintenance Sessions, put your new found knowledge to use with the help of The South Osbourne Bike Hub. They will be on site with tools and volunteers available to help you get your bike back on the road yourself.
Vendors and Displays – Check out Bikefest to test ride a bike, get the latest information on all the new bike paths in Winnipeg, and much more.
Participation
Participation in MEC Bikefest Winnipeg is open and free to all ages and skill levels, so come out and join us.
MEC Bike Swap – This is the place to sell, purchase, or trade your gently used bikes, parts, and accessories. All sales are private and are not associated with MEC.
